My Approach

Hi, I’m Sara, a Master of Counselling Student in the final stage of completing my degree to achieve the designation of Registered Clinical Counsellor.

My goal is to support people in achieving a better quality of life by offering compassionate, personalized counselling. I am deeply passionate about helping individuals navigate the various challenges that life presents, particularly during those significant times of transition when they may feel uncertain or overwhelmed. Another area I feel deeply committed to is helping those struggling with anxiety and depression, as these are some of the most common mental health challenges faced daily.

In my practice, I see the client as the expert in their own life, and I believe in the power of collaboration. Together, we can work to understand your unique needs, strengths, and goals. I like to take a holistic approach to counselling, considering not just mental health, but also the physical, emotional, and social factors that impact your overall well-being.

My mission is to help you feel empowered and supported as you navigate your journey toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.

A little bit about Sara:

In my spare time I love to mountain bike, spend time with my friends, spend time with my family, and play a range of different sports such as “ultimate”!

I also dedicate a lot of my spare time to learning more about mental health and becoming culturally competent. This ongoing learning helps me provide meaningful support to individuals as they navigate their unique paths toward becoming the best versions of themselves.

  • Unfortunately, low-cost counseling sessions aren’t eligible for claims under extended health benefits, as insurance providers require services to be delivered by a licensed professional for reimbursement.

As Sara is a Master’s Level Student Intern, she does not have her RCC designation yet, which means sessions with her are not eligible for claim submission.

  • That is one of our most asked questions, and we can assure you our student interns receive thorough, dedicated and ongoing supervision from Rebecca, our Clinic Director, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), and Approved Clinical Supervisor.

We carefully select practicum candidates who align with our clinic’s values and bring meaningful life and professional experience, ensuring a high standard of care for our clients.

  • Sara meets regularly with Rebecca Rauscher, her Approved Clinical Supervisor, to discuss challenges, progress, and present client cases (Participants will not be named or identified in this material) to explore interventions, techniques, and ethical considerations. Your sessions with Sara may be recorded, either on video or audio, and gone over with her Supervisor or her University. A consent form with these details will be provided to you before starting full sessions, so you can provide your informed consent.

The Master of Counselling Program is very grateful for your willingness to participate in assisting this intern in meeting the learning objectives for their course. Without participants, our interns would be unable to attain the hands-on learning that is a critical part of their programs.
