Therapy can be helpful if you're experiencing persistent sadness, anxiety, or feelings of being stuck. It’s also a great resource if you're struggling to focus, coping with overwhelming emotions, or navigating a significant life change, such as a job loss, change in health, relationship challenge, or the death of a loved one.
Common concerns about starting therapy are completely normal. You might wonder if it’s the right time, or whether talking to a therapist will actually help. It’s okay to feel unsure or nervous—many people do when they first consider therapy. What matters is recognizing that therapy is a supportive space for growth and healing, and it’s never too early to seek help.

Finding the right therapist is a crucial first step in your therapy journey, as a good fit can make all the difference in your progress.
We are here to help you find the therapist who feels right for you. You can browse our team’s bios to see who resonates with you, or fill out our "Match with a Therapist" form, and we’ll guide you to the right support. Here are some things to consider when choosing a therapist:
Specializations: Therapists focus on different areas, such as anxiety, trauma, relationships, or life transitions. Think about what you’d like to work on, as finding someone with experience in that area can be helpful.
Personality and Approach: Consider their personality, therapeutic style, and cultural fit. Some therapists may take a more direct approach, while others may incorporate mindfulness or somatic practices.
To help ensure you feel comfortable, all of our counsellors offer a free 15-minute phone or video consultation so you can get a sense of their approach before committing to a full session.

Starting a counselling relationship can be a deeply rewarding experience, but it’s normal to feel unsure or uneasy if it’s your first time.
The process begins with either booking yourself in for a free consultation online if there is a therapist you want to see, or, filling out our match with a therapist form. We will match you with a therapist that will best suit your needs, and can assist scheduling you in for a consultation or appointment.
Before your first full session, you will fill out a simple electronic intake form and review the Informed Consent form. This document will explain what counselling involves, including its potential benefits, challenges, and how confidentiality works.
In your first sessions with a Boundless Heart Therapist, you’ll discuss your mental health goals and begin working together to achieve them. Every therapist uses different approaches, and it’s okay if not everything clicks right away. Being open and honest with your counsellor will help you discover the methods and approach that work best for you.
-
Let’s be honest—therapy is work. Coming to a place of healing is a beautiful endpoint, but that path can be filled with uncomfortable truths and difficult realizations along the way.
That said, we firmly believe that the courage to explore and address the issues that bring you to counselling is one of the most meaningful and transformative steps you can take in your life.
There may be moments of difficulty and even tears, but these are often the first signs of deeper self-understanding and the path to embracing yourself with greater compassion and love.
